Predictive mobility: a category, not a competitor

An EV startup with a genuine engineering edge was about to get sold on price, the same as everyone else. So we changed what it was measured against.

The challenge

The company had genuine engineering advantage, a deep patent portfolio and a product that learned from the rider. But in the market it looked like every other electric two-wheeler: a spec sheet and a price. In a category racing to the bottom on cost, a better product was not enough. Without a different conversation, the company would compete on the one axis it could not win.

The strategy

Rather than position inside the crowded "EV scooter" category, we defined a new one. Working from the product's real capability, we built a brand positioning around predictive mobility, a vehicle that anticipates and looks out for its rider, and gave the company language no competitor could credibly use. Category creation strategy reframed the buying decision away from price and toward intelligence.

The execution

We translated the position into a complete system: a messaging framework, a launch narrative, and a founder-led point of view that made the founder the voice of the new category. A tier-one media programme seeded the predictive-mobility idea with business and technology press, while the founder's thought-leadership platform carried it on LinkedIn and the speaking circuit ahead of a Series A.

The results

The company stopped being compared on price and started being covered as the originator of a category. Earned media validated the position with investors before the raise, and inbound interest multiplied. The product hadn't changed, the conversation around it had, and that changed everything.

Nobody else in the category was even asking the question this company answered.
